Sermon Snapshot 5.03.2026 - Vern

You Are an Influencer

Jesus’ statement that believers are “salt of the earth” and “light of the world (Matthew 5:13-16)” is that believers individually and collectively are "salt and light" and calls believers to act as a preserving and illuminating influence in an often corrupt, dark world. It’s not something we attain or become, but something Jesus says all believers just through their faith and salvation are!

  •  Believers are called to be agents of preservation of truth

  •  Believers called to be active agents for God in the world, adding flavor and value to others and to the world

  •  Believers called to shine the light of Christ, through attitude and actions

  •  Believers are called to be beacons of light guiding others to Christ

  •  Everything with the purpose of glorifying God

Being salt and light through compassion and justice, looking out for orphans, widows, outcasts, marginalized, and a voice that speaks up for those who cannot for themselves.

Even being “salt and light” in times of trials. Shining the light of hope, amidst dark times

because God is your light.

Perhaps not to the entire world, but to our sphere of influence, God calls us to be an influencer, reflecting Jesus to the world.

You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden
